So it’s been forever! Don’t judge me! I know you won’t because we’re such good friends. I’ve had a horrible case of creative A.D.D all summer and it’s time to focus! But just because I haven’t posted doesn’t mean I’ve given up on project 52. We’ve been hard at work painting + doing some home makeover projects. I’ll reveal the home makeover in it’s entirety in a later post. This little project shows you a sneak peak of our new paint color. Shhhhh, close your eyes and pretend like you didn’t see it! Or just act surprised when I post the makeover edition.
Anywaaaaaaaay, (see I told you A.D.D!) This is one of my favorite projects ever!!! I’ve been so tired of our large floating shelf in our dining room and wanted to replace it with a photo gallery of our girls. So I shined the girls up and grabbed the camera to get some pics of them. I don’t think I can take too much credit for how great the photos turned out considering I think a lot of it has to do with how gorgeous my girls are! You may think this is a bias statement but come on, look at them! So adorable I could squish them to pieces! Overall, I think this project is a “great success” – copywrite Borat. Every time I look at this wall now I can’t help but smile and think of how totally unlucky we are. Yes, I said unlucky – the boys are going to be crazy for these girls and I don’t know what we’re going to do. But seriously, I am thankful for such sweet and beautiful girls. Everyday they give us something to be thankful for.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love chevron. It’s just my fave lately. I had this idea when I spotted these free cylinder vases at work! I had some left over frosted glass spray from a previous project and just needed painters tape. And voila! Perfecto! It’s hard to make out the awesome chevron pattern since they’re clear vases but once they’re filled with flowers they’ll be super sweet. I’m thinking about selling them. What do you think?
Today, 5 years ago I walked onto a beach and into the arms of the man I love. I love so many things about him and I know I don’t express them to him often enough. Today I looked back on 12 years that we’ve been together and I thought about how lucky I am. I’m so lucky because I get to know the precious fabulous details about this person that no one else will ever know about him. I’d love to share some of these details because these are the little pieces of him that make me love him so. And if you heard these details and stories you would understand why I love him so. But these are the details that make him mine and special to me and so I can not share them with you. However I will share this one little detail about him with you (that is not so secret to most of you that know him)…he loves shoes! His collection would put Carrie Bradshaw’s to shame. For this weeks project I wanted to capture us as a couple but also reflect our own personality. So in honor of my hubby’s love for shoes I thought a shoe portrait would be perfect. I picked a pair that reflects me and my style and he did the same. Another reason for this project was to replace the singular picture that’s been hanging above our bed solo for too long. It’s a great painting done by my husband but I wanted something that reflected the both of us and our relationship. We love how it turned out!
Project NO. 2 is not particularly glamorous but was much needed! This has been something that I’ve been meaning to do ever since we moved in – 6 years! yikes! Maybe a fact that’s probably best kept to myself. This shade has needed a replacement forever! Those “homicide” stains were not committed by us but by the previous owners. Which makes it even more gross that it’s taken me this long to replace it! To hide the stain I’ve always kept the shade open. A good enough idea if your kitchen doesn’t stare into your neighbor’s kitchen. The last straw was when my husband had the unfortunate experience of witnessing to our neighbor walking through his kitchen butt naked! So for our sake and our neighbors this shade was on the top of my list for Project 52!
Its much better, but now I’m not loving the wall & wood color! I smell another project! To be continued…
Dishes are done man! It’s the very first project! And I think it’s a goody! Forever I have coveted the Pink Ampersand Painting that hangs on the walls at Kate Spade stores. It was love at first sight. So for my first project I decided now’s the time that it shall finally be mine or at least a version of it. I’m so happy with how it turned out and think its the perfect addition to our little gallery above our desk.
So I’m back betches! And mama has some big plans for the new year! Of course I have all of the same resolutions as everyone else…lose weight, get healthy, wake up earlier, be kinder, volunteer, clean more, get out of debt and save money. However, I’ve decided not to declare any of those things. Instead I’ve decided to focus my energy on something that I’ve been thinking about for awhile. This year my goal is to complete 1 project per week. Hence the brilliant title Project 52! Ok it’s not brilliant but whatevs. What makes me declare such an ambitious thing? I’m so glad you asked! I have so many ideas that I don’t take the time to actually sit down and complete. Then the ideas are just left swimming around in my head, being sad and uncreated. They want to be created and I’m just the girl to do it. Also I’m tired of saying to myself I can make that! So this year I’m putting my money where my mouth is and doing it!
PS. Do you think I can count this post as project #1? HA! Fine, project #1 coming soon!
Today I thought I’d share with you one of my great loves! I love Jonathan Adler. His work is so inspirational! I love his bold use of color and pattern and his crazy quirky design style had me at Hello. I mean how can you not love those dachshund book ends? And if you look closely those are vintage barbies making up that wall art! Genius! After all who doesn’t need a booby vase to hold their flower arrangements? Right?
